About Me
My name is Victoria, at the time of writing this I’m just about to graduate with a degree in communication, with a focus in research. Imagine my disappointment when I realized no one would pay me to research whatever subject I chose, simply because I found it interesting. I work in SEO, and I enjoy my job, but lately the need for a creative outlet has become more and more evident. Thus, Eye of Venus.
The name, in case you’re wondering, comes from an old project for my interactive media class, plus it fits the subject matter of the blog. My aim is to study various pop culture characters or issues from a feminist viewpoint. By which I mean TV series, movies, art, literature and, occasionally, history through the lens of feminism, understood as the belief in gender equality. It is not my intention to speak on politics, but my political opinions may filter through to my writing, inevitable when writing about a highly politized ideology.
The idea to write a blog has been swimming around my head for a while, but it wasn’t until I realized just how much my life was lacking in creative endeavors that I decided to go for it. So, this is what it is at its core, an exercise in creative writing. It should therefore not be taken as gospel. I will do my research and I will do my best to present a nuanced picture, but in the end the content of the blog will still be essentially essays, meaning my opinion will take center stage.
My readers are welcome and encouraged to leave dissenting opinions in the comment section, or even to fill out the contact form if you feel I’ve made a grievous mistake, I’ll be happy to read through your thoughts and maybe, even, reevaluate my own.
As an exercise in creative writing, sometime in the future, I hope to add a section featuring other literary genres, hopefully featuring my work as well as others’. Short stories, poems, maybe even novel chapters. A space for me, and others, to express ourselves. I even have a name in mind for it.

Sobre Mi
Mi nombre es Victoria, y al momento de escribir esto, solo me faltan algunos créditos para graduarme con una licenciatura en comunicación, con un enfoque en investigación. Imaginen mi decepción cuando me di cuenta de que nadie me pagaría por investigar cualquier tema que quiera, simplemente porque lo encuentro interesante. Trabajo en SEO y me gusta mi trabajo, pero últimamente la necesidad de una salida creativa se ha vuelto cada vez más evidente. Por lo tanto, aquí está Ojo de Venus.
El nombre, en caso de que te lo preguntes, proviene de un proyecto viejo para mi clase de medios interactivos, y además encaja con el tema del blog. Mi objetivo es estudiar varios personajes o temas de la cultura pop desde un punto de vista feminista. Me refiero a las series de televisión, el cine, el arte, la literatura y, en ocasiones, la historia a través de un lente feminista, entendido como la creencia en la igualdad de género. No es mi intención hablar de política, pero mis opiniones políticas pueden filtrarse a través de mis escritos, algo inevitable cuando se escribe sobre una ideología altamente politizada.
La idea de escribir un blog ha estado dando vueltas en mi cabeza por un tiempo, pero no fue hasta que me di cuenta de lo mucho que mi vida carecía de esfuerzos creativos que decidí hacerlo. Entonces, esto es lo que es en esencia, un ejercicio de escritura creativa. Por lo tanto, no debe tomarse como hecho. Realizaré investigaciones y haré todo lo posible para presentar los matices, pero al final el contenido del blog seguirá siendo esencialmente ensayos, lo que significa que mi opinión ocupará un lugar central.
Mis lectores son bienvenidos y alentados a dejar opiniones discrepantes en la sección de comentarios, o incluso a completar el formulario de contacto si creen que he cometido un grave error, estaré encantada de leer sus opiniones y tal vez, incluso, reevaluar las mías.
Como es un ejercicio de escritura creativa, en algún momento en el futuro espero agregar una sección que presente otros géneros literarios, con la esperanza de presentar mi trabajo y el de otros. Cuentos, poemas, tal vez incluso capítulos de novelas. Un espacio para que yo y otros nos expresemos. Incluso tengo un nombre en mente para él.
